How it all started.
Our story
Hi guys! I’m Sarah, the face behind The Carmel Cake Barn. Though, huge shoutout to my boyfriend, Donald, for constantly helping, learning, and cleaning up all the dishes that get made in the kitchen! I honestly couldn’t do all that I do without him.
I fell in love with baking at the ripe old age of 15 when I started playing around with cake decorating as a kid. I have an Aunt who had worked as a home baker for as long as I had known who I ended up spending time with at 16 years old to learn the tricks of the trade. At 17, I designed and created my first wedding cake, and as they say, the rest is history!
I never had much of a want to turn cake decorating into my career, and ended up pursuing a career in the medical field. Fast forward to graduating, and I missed baking (though not enough to do it full time). I started taking wedding and custom cake orders again in Alabama on a regular basis about 6 years ago. After a move to Maine I decided to continue my evening/weekend baking out of our new home - a barn!

I am currently the owner, designer, and baker of this licensed home business that you are reading about. Though, as prior mentioned, Donald is coming right along with helping out when I need 4 hands instead of 2 thanks to you guys keeping me busy! My favorite part of all of this is YOU! I love getting to know clients, know your story, and be able to bring your vision to life in a way you never even thought possible.
When I am not baking, I am typically working my other full time day job, playing with our pups (Maisie and Sammy), or enjoying learning more about the great state of Maine with my boyfriend!
